wait if oil, coal, and natural gas formation is really rare then how come there is a lot of it? I don't mean lots and lots of it, but why is there enough for us to be using it like this when the process has a slim chance of succeeding? Hmmm.... is it because there was over billions of years before we came and that was enough to make all this :/

That's right! Think about how many organisms have died in the last 4.5 billion years! Most of the organisms decay, or break down, normally and don't turn into fossil fuels. Some, however, don't decay completely and those can then turn into the fossil fuels that we use today.

Ahhh, I see. Lot and lots of organisms died so out of all those, a lot of coal, natural gas, and oil was produced! thanks a lot :)
